A Caribbean Flamingo checks out the improvised socks that veterinarian Odette Doest created for its severe food lesions. The bird was brought to Curaao by airplane from the neighbouring island Bonaire after spending a few weeks at a local rehab facility. When the small infection on its feet worsened, the bird sanctuary eventually decided the flamingo needed additional medical care. Dr Doest treated the bird and made special socks to fit the birds feet and to avoid too much stress on the healing wounds.
